News & Views - April 5th, 2019
This week on Radio Regent News & Views, we will be exploring the following stories:
1. A landmark government report has recently indicated that Canada is warming twice as fast as the rest of the world. The report warns that drastic action is the only way to avoid catastrophic outcomes. It goes on to conclude that if countries – including Canada – don't take aggressive action, increases of 7-9 degrees are likely, and the Arctic faces the prospect of 11 degrees of warming. This will create devastating climatic and economic impacts. On this week's show, Wayne Greenway will interview Dr. Peter Loewen, a political science professor at the University of Toronto regarding the carbon tax and climate change issues.
2. Since the crises in around the government of Nicolas Maduro and international pressure for regime change in Venezuela began, there has been an alarming consensus in the mainstream media and among politicians that some form of intervention is necessary there. We'll hear excerpts from speeches and interviews presenting progressive, alternate perspectives on these issues.
3. Theo Nazary joins David Wall at Radio Regent to discuss the news of the week, including the latest revelations in the SNC Lavalin affair, the presence of Russian military advisors in Venezuela and the exciting results of the recent mayoral election in Chicago.
