Regent Park Focus

Last week the 2nd of May, The great students started modeling individual bottles.  On 9th May 2018 we will dive into basic Animation with the bouncing ball in focus and a continuation of our bottle modelling! - Jude 

The 12th of April saw the students learning skills in Maya (Hyper shade). At the end of the Lesson students can now apply color (blinn) to primitives using the hyper shade. - Jude

1. Setting Project folder on the desktop and MAYA (3d software) and how to be organized when working on a project. 2, Then,the class learnt how to clean up images in Photoshop(Organic Modelling) and the eventual importation into Maya to start modelling. The Students were beaming with interest,enjoyed the class as its a new area though tasking. Next week we hope to put some finishing touches into these by revising this topic. - Jude

Hi all, Yesterday saw another modelling class with a new student added to the family! This time we also played around with some animation. We will continue in our growth! Jude.

Thursday January 30 th was another long awaited session of the animation programming and the reveal of the highly anticipated houses that show how each member has grown as animators. We also had new members join the program beginning their first assignment by building a tree and playing with the program to make new creations at the youth's ability and imagination. The staff watched as the youth spent their hour and a half of programming laughing and enjoying their creations as well as trouble shooting issues such as an unwanted hole in the roof of their houses. The staff asked each youth to tell a story about their creation and why they made it the way they did, giving the youths a chance to explore further into their imagination. The staff watched and enjoyed the creative genius and stories unfold in front of them, giving us the front row seat to a show you need to see to believe. - Corrina Richard

The Regent Park Focus facility welcomed animation designer Jude to our family. Jude will be coming in on Thursdays to teach kids about different animation programs and how to use them to creatively send a message about social issues and other topics in their society and lives. The 14 th however was an introduction into the future programming which included looking at finished products, and how they were designed. Youth can be signed up for this program which will be held every Thursday from 4pm-5:30pm, snacks will be provided as well as rewards for those who attend. Space is limited and is offered on a first come first served bases.    This program will be offered at the regent park focus in the media lab and include programs like After Effects, 3D sculpting, etc. The kids today got a first hand view on what it is like to be an animator and the kind of work and dedication that goes into producing even a short film.
