Divas Girls Group - Time Capsule Workshop

Last week the Divas Media Group met and the ladies outlined their goals/objectives for the next couple of months. The ladies participated in a “time capsule” workshop where they wrote letters to themselves. The letters were then sealed and will be opened at the end of the program. The ladies and the tobacco youth mentors printed multiple copies of the Tobacco prevention PSA. The ladies then got into their characters and practiced their lines. At the end of the meeting, the ladies lead a small group discussion surrounding Black History Month and its importance. By: Tusma Sulieman and Julie Guerrier January 29, 2016

Vice news claims that if this giant piece of ice melts, it could increase water levels up to 10 feet. Meaning many island nations and coastal towns will be left underwater. Divas Media Group - PSAs

This past week, The Divas in Media Group met and finalized their roles and obligations in the upcoming PSA’s. The ladies made a realistic timeline and created steps to ensure that they remain on track. They discussed possible future career choices and aspirations. Their career choices ranged from science related to arts based. The ladies were interested in having a speaker in each of their chosen career fields hold a workshop. The ladies partook in an opinion activity based on current social trends in the media. The ladies made concise statements and gave examples from the media when arguing their choices. They eventually went on to lead the discussion themselves and come up with social issues that they regard to be controversial. The ladies finished the day off with a peer lead discussion on activities they wish to do throughout the year. By: Tusma S.
