“I know every day is a gift, but where's the receipt for Mondays? I want to exchange it for another Friday”- Unknown. It’s no doubt that everyone looks forward to Fridays. Why? Simply, because Fridays are everyone’s chilling day, where you can let go of school and just relax with the upcoming weekend. But for me, that’s not the only thing I look forward to on Fridays. Recently I had joined a group called “Diva Girls”. “Diva Girls” is a place where you can just be yourself, a group about us. We talk about several important things going on, whether it’s in the society, media or globally. We feel comfortable enough to share with each other about things, like hard or rough times and things that are happening all around us. Our very first week was truly amazing. We all just had this great vibe that made the session absolutely remarkable. Lots of ideas were being thrown around; all of us reflecting on what we were talking about and connecting with each other in a way we haven’t ever before. After the first week went so smooth we expected the same for the second week. But that’s not exactly what happened.

First off, the weather put us all down. Looking outside, the sky was filled with storm clouds; it was raining heavily, creating puddles that my friend and I had to avoid as we made our way to Diva Girls. Overall, it was very gloomy, cold and wet.  When we entered, the aroma around us reflected the weather. After having a unit test for Science and a very intense game of football that day we all were very tired and worn out. Nonetheless we all tried and put our effort into that session. We talked about proverbs from all over the world and created little posters which included drawings and what we interpreted out of a quote we each chose. So we brought out the color pencils and markers and displayed our artistic sides. While we were busy coloring away we also discussed ideas that we could do in the future. We came up with ideas such as Fundraising, baking, talking about our culture, our community and religion. A few others on the list were doing some projects based upon media, visiting places and talking about things that we care and are significant to us. And with the brainstorming we wrapped up our session.  Even though the session wasn’t the most energetic, we all knew that it was just a lazy day for all of us and that we couldn’t wait to come back next week because we were taking on a whole new subject, beauty! Diva Girls is one of the highlights of my week and I can’t wait to come back next Friday!
